About Hometown Organizing Project

Hometown Organizing Project is building power in rural Alabama by supporting communities that are too often overlooked—and helping them lead the way toward justice, resilience, and self-determination.

We believe that the people closest to a problem are the ones best equipped to solve it. Whether it’s recovering after a storm, navigating a broken political system, or facing the impacts of climate change, rural communities across Alabama have shown that they don’t wait around for someone else to fix things—they show up for each other and get to work.

Our role is to support that work: by listening, building relationships, and organizing alongside local leaders.

Through community-rooted disaster response, climate protection, and civic engagement efforts, we’re helping Alabamians turn shared struggle into collective action.

Join us as we build a future where every rural community has the resources, representation, and resilience it needs to thrive.
